Jennifer Brown MA, LPC

You are not alone! The greatest lessons in my life have been watching individuals who have had the strength to experience their true capacity by choosing to enrich their personal lives. Sometimes I have watched this capacity by experiencing someone’s ability to embrace his or her unique talents and succeed beyond expectation. Many times it has been in an individual’s capacity to personally dig deeper during a “dark night.” Embracing my own unique strengths and digging deeper during the challenging periods of my life. These have directly impacted my passion in providing counseling to individuals, couples and groups. . My personal events and the events I have experienced throughout my life directly influence my ability to meet you where you are at presently. I have experienced life and its challenges. They can be overcome! Many times this painful journey leads a person to his/her greatest lesson, which is strength.

I have worked with individuals, couples and groups for the past 25 years and I am excited to continue this journey with you. I am committed to the Independent Living Philosophy of service provision where “the person comes first and always knows what is best in his/her life”. It would be my pleasure to stand with you during your struggles and provide personalized therapy. Lean into fear and celebrate your unexpected successes!

AnnaMaria Velasquez MA, LPCC LAC

Do you feel alone? You might struggle with what path you should take. I can support you and walk with you along your path. I have provided individual and group therapy for 6 years. I’m a graduate of Adam’s State University. I have a LPPC and a LAC. I have worked with a diverse population. I’m native to the San Luis Valley. Giving back to the community has always been my number one priority. I understand the culture of the SLV and I know the fear of seeking mental health care. Therapy gives you a chance to unpack your trauma and tell your story.

My passion for helping others comes from my life experiences. I once had the support from a therapist to change my life. I enjoy working with youth and teaching them the skills to be successful adults. DBT is a great start for learning skills to manage emotions and cope with life stressors. I have compassion and understanding for those in recovery. The San Luis Valley has an increase of addiction and minimal support for those in need. I’m trained in EMDR and love working with survivors of trauma.

My hope is to help you overcome difficulties you are experiencing. Learn new coping skills to help you work through day to day stressors. Become a success story and break the chains of addiction. Overcome the thoughts and feelings that have been created by the trauma you have been exposed to. It’s never too late to start over. The only way to heal is to feel.

Asking for help can be hard, so what a comfort it is to know that we don’t have to shoulder our struggles alone! As a therapist, I believe it is a privilege and an honor to come alongside you on your mental health journey as you grow and work towards healing. My therapeutic scope consists of cognitive behavioral and humanistic approaches. I believe that our cognitions play a considerable role in not only how we view ourselves but also in how we view and ultimately interact with the world around us. While some of our behaviors might have served us well when we needed them in the past as a means to survive and regulate, those same behaviors can become maladaptive and no longer serve us positively. As such, addressing and challenging those negative cognitions that result in distress ultimately helps us understand how our behavior is affected and how we can further challenge those distortions and our behaviors as a way to decrease distress and increase wellness.

I do not believe that therapy is a one size fits all process; therefore, meeting you where you are at and facilitating a safe space for you to not only share what your experiences and hurts are but also work towards achieving your goals, wellness and healing will be central to our work together.

No matter where you may find yourself in your journey right now, I hope to hear your voice, hear your story, support and collaborate with you so that you may feel seen, validated and find genuine hope, healing and wellness!

It is my goal to help people to build positive coping skills, decrease negative symptoms and increase overall happiness. Nicole Pomroy MA, LPCC

As an art therapist and sex therapist in training, I see our work together as sacred, deeply rooted in trust and respect. The therapy I offer is creative arts-based, person-centered, trauma-informed, feminist-relational, and sex-positive. My role as a therapist is not to provide you with answers, rather, I will walk alongside you as you carve your path of healing, explore your truths, and deepen your relationship with self and others.

Art therapy is the creative process of healing psychological wounds by engaging in expressive techniques that provide an emotional outlet and serve as a mirror, reflecting our otherwise hidden patterns. In honor of the inherent vulnerability of creative emotional expression, I strive to provide a therapeutic space founded on unconditional empathy and care, within which, the constellation of your human experience is witnessed and respected. Together, we will design a unique treatment plan in support of your therapeutic goals, utilizing your creativity in whatever capacity feels most nourishing for you.

No experience with art or art materials is needed.
